1994 Columbus Open Results
Sailed on Hoover Reservoir, Columbus, OH, September 17-18, 1994

Five races were held in a variety of breezes due to the passing of a cold
front which brought rainy weather to the start of the regatta.  As the
weather cleared throughout Saturday, the wind veered from the northwest to
north while the velocity alternately rose and died.  The breeze finally
settled during the second race to 5-12 knots and stayed for the third.

A match racing series was held concurrently with a coctail party, featuring
the Cleveland fleet's BLENDER, with sixteen teams competing in a single
elimination tournament on a short windward/leeward once around course set
just off the club lawn.  The breeze built to 8-15 for the match race series,
making for some exiting prerace boathandling.  The racing was fast and
fierce with a good time had by competitors and spectators alike.  The match
race series was won by Steve Asprey and Jamie Jones.  The rest of the
results are not included here because I forgot to write them down!!

A crisp, fall morning greeted the competitors for the remaining two races in
NE-E breezes of 8-15 knots.  There were several general recalls before each
race was started successfully.
