You then go to your states listing, and there are a number of orthos listed. Members of the Scoliosis Research Society sub- specialize in the treatment of scoliosis. Make sure your trainer knows about your surgery and the extent of your fusion. I would clear it with your doctor first. There is a lot of potential twisting. Be firm with your trainer as to what you are able to do safely. By the way, I feel you have to work with a trainer. It's to complex to do properly with just a tape. (you can buy video tapes for the mat work, but if you don't approach the technique properly your spinning your wheels.) It is expensive, about $55-75 a session, one on one. I love doing pilates, but it's not for everyone. It takes a lot of focus to do the exercises correct, but it does help strengthen the abdominals and the back, among other things. Just FYI: it depends on your area as to the cost. I live in north Alabama, and I can do single Pilates sessions for $45, and sets of 10 (scheduled at my convenience) for approx. $30 each. But in areas where Pilates is trendy, you can spend almost $100 for 1 session. And then there are classes (of about 6 around here) that cost less, but you get less attention, too. It's all relative... dependent on your area, the cost of living, etc. - --hmc. ______ For help on using this list (especially unsubscribing), send a message to "scoliosis-request@ai.mit.edu" with one line of text: "help". ------------------------------ End of scoliosis V1 #1014 ************************* You're reading a composite here: the scoliosis-digest is a daily encapsulation of messages sent to four different mailing lists: scoliosis, scoliosis-medical, scoliosis-child and scoliosis-teens.
