I can't say anything about pregnancy and flat back because I have not been diagnosed with it, but I have been through one pregnancy with my fused spine. I had my son when I was 30, he's two now. I went through the entire pregancy without any significant back pain. One thing that was worrisome was that an epidural for pain might not work on me because my spine was fused in area they are normally given. (I was lucky and had a talented doctor who got it to work despite the low odds of success.) I did have severe back pain following delivery which lasted a few weeks. I have been pain-free up until about six months ago when all of the lifting of my son caught up to me. He's 30 pounds now and I'm finding I just have to quit trying to lift him in and out of car seats, etc. It's not always easy but you find you have to save your back! In a way, pregnancy was easier because he was lighter to carry around! Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
