   This is version 1.07 of the MLDL, released as free software. That
means you can distribute, alter, and use it as you see fit, with the
exception that any distribution of this or derivative works have to be
under the same licensing conditions. See the file ``LICENSE'' for
details. The copyright applies to all software, the manual, artwork,
and examples.

   Now that the details are out of the way, let me explain how to
build the MLDL. First of all, the software yet has to be ported to the
HP-48GX. I will do this as soon as I can lay my paws on a GX.

   To assemble the library, you need STAR version 1.04.4. If you don't
have it already, get it from wuarchive, seq.uncwil.edu, or
ftp.ai.mit.edu (in /pub). The assembly itself should be fairly
straightforward; just type ``make'' on your favorite Unix system.
This should provide a binary you can load into your HP-48.

   The manual, too, should be fairly simple. You need LaTeX. Basically
just type, in the ``manual'' subdirectory, ``latex mldl''. Repeat this
until LaTeX stops telling you to rerun. The file ``manual/cover.ps''
contains the manual's cover artwork. You can preview it using
GhostScript, or print it on most PostScript and compatible printers.

   The reference card consists of two sides. One side is in
``manual/keybd.ps'', the other in ``manual/mldl-ref.ps''. I drop these
off at the local print shop, who align them onto two sides, print
them, and do the lamination. You should be able to do the same with a
decent photocopier, a pair of scissors, a stable hand, and a
lamination machine. This was how I did the promo batch sold at the
Corvallis handheld conference.

   This is all there is to it. If you have any questions or run into
