TOPIC #1  ***Ground Rules**

I. Meetings: 
		
A. Time: Friday 12:05 pm -12:55pm
Place: AIChE tutoring room. outside combo 3-5-1; inside 4-5-1.
basement 66 when off elevators go right, instead of going  to bldg 56 go right
after walking through first door go to the left.

B. Tardiness: 
Give warning by email with 24hrs. 
If late more than three times will expect more work, to be decided when the 
situation arises.

C. No shows
let the others know in order to reschedule
it is diffferent if warning is given 
if no warning: meeting with Bonnie
after two missed meeting facilitated discussion of the group with Bonnie
if late without warning bring  drinks for everyone at the next meeting.

D.  Rules
no smoking
food and drink OK

E. Agenda
set time lines


II.. Team  GOALS

1. A.  We want to perform well academically; an A would be nice, we will 
adhere to the highest standard. We will strive for the A.
    B.  Understand and learn the projects
    C. To become a high performing team, that utilizes the team skills we 
develop.

2. how to achieve these goals
A. Set deadlines agreed on and meet these deadlines
B. Respect each other
C. Learn to become sensitive to each others feelings, emotions, and view 
points.
D. utilize time effieciently by planning ahead

3.  Hours expect to spend on 10.27
12 to 18 hours per week

4. Safety
Follow all safety standards
 
5. Reports
A. start with an outline
B. use the outline to designate 
C. delgate the  portions that don't require discussion, but strive to have 
team brain storming sessions for the other material and to work together if 
possible.
D. we all will proofread. one person will be in charge of editing.
E. supporting the team member who is not as good at writing: assign more non 
writing tasks and offer them advice.
F. If someone does not follow through with their committment meet with Bonnie.
G. style should be professional, concise
H. Oral report will be an abridged version of the written report.  Must 
include all the critical information in an optimal format

III. ROLE of the Team Leader
A.  boost morale, create team spirit
B.  keep track of documents being prepared
C.  oversees the distribution of tasks
D.  Makes a time schedule and sets an agenda for lab
E.  Communicate with the advisor, through agendas 
F.  Set agenda, check up on people, nag them  


IV.  In Lab
A. everyone should be prepared before starting
B. The recorder should record data, if the recorder has a problem he or she 
will get a substitute.
C. Everyone should do analysis of data while copying it down
D. Everyone should get to use all of the experimental apparatus, we will 
rotate tasks
E.  sharing means caring

V. Work Load
A. Distribute fairly.
B. Team Leader must make sure everyone is on schedule
C. Reschedule if a problem, if someone does not follow through on their 
committment, the person who slacks off will be expected to do more later in 
the process. I t shouldn't .happen more than once. The specific penalty should 
be  a reprimand from Enid.

VI. Conflict, Disagreements, Evaluating each other
A. We should be able to talk about and resolve our problems and if wwe are not 
sucessful thenm we should bring Bonnie, the TA, or the advisor.
B.  If people have different opinions about the quality of. We want to do the 
best we can, but consider the practicality of the situation.
C. We should try to make sure everyone agrees on on the decisions
D. If one person thinks they too much work we discuss it.
E. rules can be changed by discussions
F. the conflict/ negoiation format, should start with a specifically stated 
problem


VII. supporting each other
A. The presenter should be able to use the other members as a resource for 
advice, questions and people to practice in front of each other.
B. respect each other, time spent together is valuable
C. we will help each other build their relationship skills
