Dear Ben,
How are things going? I hope life is treating you extremely well. I'm sure
you're already getting excited about next year's Summerbridge class. I must say I had a
great time at SB when I visited over the summer. I realized how much I missed chasing
the buses, playing at recess, and just being around the Summerbridge spirit. All of
our family were such mature 8th graders. I was dissapointed not to see Christian but
Hector's enthusiasm for MIT got me really excited. I sent him some stuff a little
while ago and I'm putting together another package for him.
A few weeks ago Mark was in Rhode Island and came
up to spend a little time with Ericka, Lorenzo, and me, and Stacy is coming up for
Halloween! I'm hoping to go down to Yale at some point and see Chris, maybe I can make
it for the Harvard Yale football game.

I wanted to ask a big favor from you. I'm
applying to a summer program called the MIT-China Educational
Technology Initiative(MIT-CETI). The MIT-China Educational
Technology Initiative (MIT-CETI) is aimed at fostering innovation
in education and in international cooperation by using the
Internet and World Wide Web. The basic premise of the program
is to give MIT students the chance to work in China during the
summer teaching high school students the various uses of the
internet.
The application process for this program is very
competitive and one of part it are two letters of recomendation.

"The recommendations should speak of your ability to take
initiative and carry out independent projects. In speaking of these
abilities, the person writing the recommendation should refer to
concrete details which support his or her statements."

Unfortunately none of my professors really know me because I've only taken big
lectures, and so I was hoping you could write me a letter. It doesn't need to be long
at all. My application is due on Nov. 2 and if you can
send a letter of recommendation I would be very appreciative, but
if you're really swamped in work at the moment I understand. Feel
free to email me bryantmc@mit.edu or call me 617-225-7543 if you
want to ask me any questions.
					Thank you very much,
					Bryant
