Dear Professor Ellenberger,
My name is Bryant McLaughlin, I'm a first year undergraduate at MIT, and
I'm writing you because Dr. David Pellman suggested to me that you would be an
excellent professor to work for. I'm very interested the structures and
functions of DNA polymerases and repair protiens. I would like study the
replication DNA and processes by which repair proteins recognize and remove DNA
lesions. I saw the your article in the most recent Science and I'm quite intrigued by your
work. I would be grateful if could be considered to work in your Lab this summer and
hopefully beyond that if an opportunity exists. If there is anything I could send you
or if you have any questions please e-mail me or call me 617-225-7538.

Thank you very much,
Bryant McLaughlin
