Subject: overnight trip Sat & Sun

Here's the plan:
We'll meet on the first floor of the student center at 8 am Saturday. From
there we'll head north, stopping at some point to go shopping. I want you
to break into pairs. As pairs, you will buy your own food, set up your own
camp, and cook your own food. I'll be around to provide guidance as needed.
After shopping, we'll proceed to Rumney, NH. Time permitting, we'll hike up
Rattlesnake, a very short mountain with a view near Camalot. The hike is about
2 h round trip. You shouldn't need any special equipment, although feel free
to bring snowshoes (you'll need them for Sunday in any case).
I'm hoping we'll get to Camalot with plenty of daylight to spare so you can
explore the area, choose a camping spot, and set up camp in daylight. To this
end, we might choose to skip the Rattlesnake hike.
The Camelot cabin is nearby in case cooking or staying warm while sleeping
doesn't work for you, but we'll ignore the cabin unless we need it.
Sunday, after cooking breakfast and breaking camp, we'll go hiking nearby.
Either to Rattlesnake if we didn't do it the day before, or to Three Ponds,
which is another easy hike that goes by some pretty ponds. You will need
snowshoes for Three Ponds.
I am staying in New Hampshire Sunday night, so you will return to Boston by
yourselves. I expect you'll be back
 by 10 pm Sunday night.
I'll be at office hours tomorrow evening. Each pair should rent one tent.
Do any of you know each other? If not, I suggest that Audrey and Dalia
combine forces and Rajul and Mike collaborate with each other.

If any of you decide not to come, please let me know soon since one other
woman has expressed a desire to come.

Require gear:
snowshoes
1 tent/pair
winter sleeping bags
foam pad(s)
headlamp (or flashlight) and spare batteries

I will provide stoves. Although if you can bring one, let me know.

See you Thursday at office hours.

Susan
