I think I will take your advice and spend more time in NZ. I'll
probably be flying in to Sidney, go up to Cairns a few days for diving, then
head over to Christchurch to tour NZ. If you're anywhere around these parts
let me know.

Not sure if I'll be able to see you off or not as I had hoped - I
expect most will say adios during this circus but my plans have changed for
the weekend due to unexpected work commitments.

	Take care,
	Rick

Tua Transalp MX Telemark Ski Size 203cm Was $325 NOW $139
http://www.mgear.com/mgear/hd_item.icl?itmid=3970&hs=1

The Transalp is a very smooth-skiing, all-around board. With
the same wide dimensions as the original Montets, it has a
very similar feel: quick and snappy yet very forgiving. The
improved "Ecosint" base is a fast and durable sintered material
developed from 80% recycled plastics. The Transalp uses the best
Tua Matrix construction: woodcore and two torsion boxes. Its
round, smooth flex makes it a versatile performer from piste
to powder. The Transalp's sidewalls have a 4-degree angle.
Topsheets have a protective poly-carbonate laminate. A great
choice for all-around conditions. It is an especially good
value for those who want to add an affordable wider ski of
the highest performance to their ski arsenal. (It is recommended
that you use stiffer buckle boots with the Tua Transalp.)

Merrell Supercomp Telemark Boot '97 Women's Was $485 NOW $299
http://www.mgear.com/mgear/hd_item.icl?itmid=7861&hs=1

Long the favorite of high end Tele skiers, the SuperComp continues
to be the bench-mark of Telemark performance. Its trademark wrap
around plastic cuff offers the support of total downhill control
and flex for comfortable touring. A new leather outer tongue over
the instep provides an added layer of protection from the
elements. The instep buckle has been re-positioned and backed
with molded leather/nylon flexible TPR to anchor the foot and
spread pressure for added control and comfort. Power equal to
plastic boots with the comfort and fit of leather!

as digging out base camp. The blade is tempered, welded and
powder-coated to prevent sticking. The stout D Grip handle
   accommodates gloves or mitts.

Hello--

I have a desperate request for some equipment for Sunday-Monday this weekend.
I missed your office hours and would like to see if anyone has time to meet
me to rent me some equipment.

I just need a tent and two sleeping bags (but will also need to renew my
membership). Apologies for not having made your office hours. If you could
accomodate my request I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Cheers,
Ryan Kershner

Ryan,

Unfortunately, due to this weekend's Fall Circus, where
we are expecting between 60-70 participants, all of
our tents and sleeping bags are already in use.

Best of luck trying to find alternate arrangements.

The following is an official update from the CASKE2000.org: Central American
Sea Kayak Expedition website (http://www.caske2000.org) hosted by
Jean-Philippe Soule. These announcements are sent to readers interested in
Adventure, Travel, Culture, Nature, Cuisine, Survival and other subjects
treated by CASKE2000. If you would prefer not to receive these updates, see
the instructions at the bottom of this message."
==========================================

Greetings from CASKE 2000 in La Mosquitia,

Actually we just returned to the city of La Ceiba from our first foray
into the Rio Platano Biosphere of the Mosquito Coast. The four weeks we
spent in the jungle were very enriching culturally. The Pech and Miskito
people of the area lead fascinating lives. Combined with the stunning
natural beauty of the heart of the Biosphere it made for a wonderful
first excursion into La Mosquitia

Our journals are on-line. From paddling narrow jungle choked canals to
the up-river struggle we didn$B%f(Bt lack adventure. As well, cultural
impressions, humorous anecdotes and a little political commentary can be
found. A gallery with the first digital photos illustrates the journals.
JP$B%f(Bs journal: www.caske2000.org/journaljp0999.htm
Luke$B%f(Bs journal: www.caske2000.org/lukehonduras2.htm

Look for material in our indigenous cultures section soon on the
traditional lifestyles of the last remaining Pech people in La Mosquitia.

New Updates:

- Two new pieces from JP, "Poling a Pipante" and "The Biggest
Challenge$B%`(BDocumenting the Expedition from Central America." both appear
in the "Selected Stories" section.

-Two new feature stories on the challenges of travel in the wilds of the
developing world are now on-line, "Insect Asylum" by Luke and "When
Nature Calls in Foreign Lands" by Jean-Philippe
The four above-mentioned stories are found at
www.caske2000.org/selection.htm

-Best photos from the first half of $B%f(B99. Digitized slides appear in a
new easy-to-browse contact sheet format. Images from Southern Mexico
through Belize. www.caske2000.org/belize/belizephotos.htm

*We just won our first award! "Best Travel Site" from Planet Rider, (
www.planetrider.com )

*CASKE 2000 is now a permanent feature on three new sites, Adventure
Online an on-line education site, www.adventureonline.com, and Encompass
One travel site, www.encompassone.com, and outdoor gear e-retailer
Planet Outdoors, www.planetoutdoors.com

Needless to say, I didn't send that message you all got. I forgot to log
myself out last night and some jerk had a little fun with my account.
Sorry for any trouble it caused.

Matt,

I didn't make it to the trip this weekend at the end, so in case I don't
see you before you leave, I wanted to wish you a good trip back to
Australia. Do you have an e-mail address (or real address) which will
remain active after you leave? Mine won't change for a while.

Thata guy also called the office Friday - he sounded pretty unhappy.
Who is in charge of the books nowadays anyway? I don't remember Paul
agreeing to it.

Hey Matt,

I think I just saw you log off a quick term.
Anyway, I just wanted to say goodbye,
too bad I didn't get to see you yesterday
while climbing (or on Cannon - but with
the rain, maybe things worked out for best).

It's been great getting to know you better
over the last year, and especially the last few
months. I think we've shared some great times,
and my love and appreciation of the outdoors has
benefitted by your company.

I hope you find whatever you are looking for back
in Australia. Hopefully, someday, we'll cross
paths again. Until then, best of luck.

When I finally do that trad multi-pitch, I'll
send some thoughts your way.

Your friend,
Mike
