Welcome to the information server dedicated to sailing and racing
Snipe sailboats.
The Snipe is a 15-1/2 foot, 2 person, one design racing dinghy with a rich history dating to 1931. Originally designed by William Crosby, to comply with the emerging "trailer class" of racing sailboats, it has evolved into a modern, tactical racing dinghy with fleets around the world. Although the class has some of the best competition in the world, the class has not lost sight of the importance of social events and, in fact, many regattas are as well known for their parties as they are for their racing. The essence of the class is summed up by it's motto "Serious sailing, Serious Fun."

World Snipe Day Proclamation: May 6th, 1995
Hot off the press...The next Snipe Bulletin will announce that May 6th will be proclaimed World Snipe Day. It was determined that the first Saturday in May would be a day that all Snipers, regardless of which side of the equator or in what latitude they reside, could take their Snipes out en masse in a show of support for the class. The Commodore has issued a challenge that all Snipers go sailing on World Snipe and take someone out who is new to the Class. The official proclamation is stated on another page. Start thinking about how you can support World Snipe Day!
If you don't own a Snipe and would like to participate, contact either the SCIRA Office or your nearest District Governor (US) or National Secretary.
New Regatta Results:
Rumor has it that the
1996 North Americans will be held in Nassau, Bahamas in April 1996.
This is about a month after the DonQ in Miami and every effort is
being made to make it affordable (shipping boats from Miami, lodging,
etc.).
The March 1995 used boat list is now available.
